Privacy Policy
Rimlight is built so that your photos never leave your device. This policy explains exactly what the app does with your data.
The short version
- We do not collect, store, sell or share any personal data.
- The app makes no network connections. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- All photo processing happens on your iPhone or iPad.
Your photos
You choose photos with the system photo picker. Rimlight only receives the photos you pick; it cannot see the rest of your library.
To place the lights, the app estimates the depth of the scene and detects faces in the photo. Both run on your device with Apple's Core ML and Vision frameworks. Face detection only finds where faces are; it does not identify anyone, and the results are discarded when you close the photo.
Saving and sharing
When you export, Rimlight asks for permission to add photos to your library. It saves the result as a new photo; your original is never modified. The app does not ask for permission to read your library.
The exported photo keeps the original's metadata, such as the capture date, camera details and, if present, location. Remove the location in the Photos app before sharing if you prefer.
If you share without saving, the app writes a temporary file that only the share sheet uses. Temporary files are deleted by the app later on.
What stays on your device
- Small thumbnails of your last six exports, so the home screen can show them.
- Your preferences, such as export format and which tips you have already seen.
This data is stored only inside the app on your device and is removed when you delete the app. It is not sent anywhere.
Children
Rimlight does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
